I've evolved into editing and take pride in maintaining the writer's intention while ensuring that the voice is consistent with the organization, outlet or platform, following internal or published style guides (even establishing one when necessary). My eye is always on clarity and consistency.

Whether inviting people to travel into the past to learn about the life's work of Detroit's celebrated ceramicist, the late Mary Chase Perry Stratton, and the iconic Pewabic Pottery she founded, or sharing the dreams of today, like that of a hardworking Detroit chef and restaurateur, such as SheWolf's Anthony Lombardo, I am committed to telling everyone's authentic story.

My deep dives into research for feature stories and books led me to embody a profound admiration and appreciation of libraries and museums, including doing archival work and accessioning for a historical museum.

What began with an appointment to serve on my community's historic district commission turned into a commitment to be present within local governmental meetings to ensure an understanding of what is happening around me and that quieter voices are heard. It grew to my being one of a trio to co-found a nonprofit to assist the community's often-overlooked small, local businesses. We work to bridge the local and county governments, as well as the residents, with the local businesses because we all do better when we all thrive.
